CNN reports that Fujimori plans to run for president in Peru in next year's election.
This is the guy who overthrew his own government via the autogolpe and then was forced to flee Peru amidst an intelligence scandal involving a wiretapping incident.
How can a Japanese guy be president of Peru? There was a news story/rumor a while back claiming his mother paid someone to change a ship's registry to show he was not born until the ship arrived in Lima...the only evidence was a deletion over an unknown name next to his mother's name.
In any case, interesting to see what will happen. He won the first time on "those Japanese really know how to fix things..." |
