I have tentatively accepted a job at the Ansan campus, but have found some black listed remarks. Anyone work there or know of any info, please post as I am a newbie and would like to be as prepared as possible. Thanks.

1) one post will do, thanks Razz
2) Ansan, its out of seoul but not too far out. Its quite nice and the housing is large.
3) Here's the thing if you're not sure, don;t work there. There ar elots of jobs and if you're tentative you can easily roll on.

I am just finishing a year with YES Youngdo, and have resigned for a second year. I can't vouch for the Ansan branch, but I am very happy with my experience here. They have taken very good care of me (GREAT apt!), have never lied to me about anything, paid me on time (well above the average for hogwan salaries with excellent benefits), and are exactly what they claim to be.

On the flip side, there are several disgruntled workers at my school who won't be coming back again. Some don't care for the workload, and are more the type who are here for a "working holiday" rather than for a real job. Also, Youngdo has a teaching philosophy and a methodology they want you to use. It is somewhat flexible, but not alot. I have found that really creative types who want to do their own thing in the classroom (even if its really good), find their efforts frowned up. They, too, are often frustrated because they disagree with the teaching philosophy. I think Youngdo's system is good (not perfect, mind you) and effective in this culture, but I understand this as a valid complaint by some teachers.

You will work harder than at many hogwans (although far less than teaching back in the West, which I have done as well). If you are really interested in teaching and really helping kids learn English, AND you can work within the confines of their methodology, I think it's a great place. If you are looking for a year of adventure, travel, and fun with as little work as possible, there are many easier hogwan gigs.
