I find myself smashing my head against the wall trying to think of a decent date. Guess most of my haunts are disgusting bars and restaurants. Smile

So I figured I'd start a thread here, if anyone has gone out on a date somewhere and had it work out nicely, or finds a place that would be a good spot to take a date... might be helpful.

I was at the Olympic pArk last Sunday that is was lovely. It has some funky sculptures and you can laugh at the warden on his bike who keeps blowing his whistle at people and telling them to get off the grass.

Han river cruise, olympic park, amsa dong. Be a kid and go to an amusement park. Strolling around gyeongbuk or insadong. Ttukesom station has some mini-boats and things like that.

I'm unoriginal... Quiet cafes in Hongdae. Seoul Tower. Kyungbokkung area. Confused But then again, I've only been here a month.

I'm getting date ideas scouring Swiss James' blog. It's got excellent pictures and he writes very well so you get a good sense of how the place is. That blog is class.

My girlfriend took me to the Jongo - Gwanghwamun area which was pleasant and interesting. There were all these old-school ajummas behind their food stalls and these little stores that seemed .... well.... dare I say, more Korean (?)... We actually found it quite romantic.

Thanks for the kind words, but you should be aware that I haven't had sex since 1943 so am not the best source for dating tips.

Going to somewhere you've never been before is a good idea, esp. if she hasn't been there either. (Many Koreans haven't been to the famous palaces and things since they were tiny schooltots and barely remember them.) That way, you have something interesting to talk about and look at. Also, neither of you can be blamed for making a bad choice if it turns out to suck... and that gives you an excuse to say "oh well, let's just go watch a DVD instead".

PS: the above paragraph presumes you are not dating tiny schooltots, which i am aware that you older Canadian teachers sometimes do...

Insadong, the Yeouido ferry. In Suwon, walk the Hwaseong fortress. Somewhere in the middle is really cool spot for a picnic called (I think) 뿬.
