G'day
I'm wondering what the usual deal is for sick days. The contract I was offered doesn't give me any sick days, and if I call in sick I need a doctor's note and they charge me 18,000won per class missed. This seems a bit much to me, but I could be wrong.
Thanks again as always,

I don't know what's usual, but I get fifteen paid sick days, and have to produce a doctor's note if I'm on sick leave for more than seven calendar days. |

Sick days seem to be more of a theoretical concept here. In practice, unless you're actually dead, you won't get any regardless of what your contract says. I've known teachers who were running to the bathroom to throw up every class, and the school wouldn't let them go home.
Having said that... both my contracts included three sick days with no penalties. I wouldn't sign a contract with none just in case I ever got *really* sick and had to fight over it. |
