Hi guys.
For my free class tonight we're making brownies. My kids are pretty psyched about it. The recipe we're using requires butter, which will be hard to mix so I'm thinking of subbing it for corn oil. Can this be done? How much oil should i use to replace a 1/3rd of a cup of butter? The same amount?

Let the butter sit at room temperature for a few hours before you use it. Butter tastes better. |

It's a shame about the brownies falling through. If you make them for your very own self, (assuming you can find an appropriate pan and an oven) don't substitute oil. It doesn't behave the same way at room temperature, so it won't give you the nicest results. Pre-softening the butter was wise counsel. |

Not English enough? Tell them that you're going to conduct the class verbally, and that the students need to learn how to take directions in English, and that they have to hear your directions in order to develop good listening skills. |

When I brought in brownies for some co workers they seemed to think they were too sweet anyway. Banana bread on the other hand had them asking for the recipe. |
