|
|
I am getting tired of comments such as `are you still in high school/`.
So dearie how are you studies going` and then the astonished looks on faces when asked how old i am and i reply 25!
I appreciate that most people would prefer to look younger at my age, but I also am getting fed up with being treated as a 16 year old.
I think my face looks young which is the main problem. but how do other people judge someones age?.
I wear normal 25 year old clothes ( whatever that might be) usually try and look smartish....but any one got any ideas on a way in which i could at least look nearer my age.
When teaching adults especially Korean men, I don`t think they have the same respect for you or trust in you to teach them properly if you look a lot younger, until you get to know them properly, which is normal i guess and cant blame them. But this time I am starting a new school teaching adults, wonder if anyone had any tips?.
I am guesing this might sound a bit shallow, but as they say `first impressions are what counts`
I think and have experienced the same as any other 25 yr old so to be treated differently just because you look younger is starting to get on my nerves.
I cant even get a wrinkle out of my chimney smoking |

I cut em' down and count how many rings/circles.
As for getting respect from adult students... well, I teach about 50+ of them a day and I must say, wearing professional clothes helps. I wear a suit most days. It may not automatically make me a better teacher but in their eyes it does. |

I ask them, usually right after they ask me. |

when i was around your age (27 to be exact) and gettin' no respect from my business associates, i just lied. i was 30 for 4 years.
of course, had i been living in Korea, i would only have had to lie for 2.5 years.
koreans lie all the time, especially about age. join the crowd! |

i was just thinking about this and realized that your dress could have something to do with it. Korean's are particularly aware of appearances and how a woman dresses is easily taken as an indication of her station. if you're not already, try dressing in professional attire. rather than youthful cuts, select colorful blouses and playfully patterned accessories to express yourself.
to answer your original question. i can usually tell a person's age by looking at their eyes. even our youthful looking Korean brothers and sisters get a certain knowing look in their eyes that reflects their maturity and experience. i got mine at around 29, after spending a couple years in corporate America. sadly, it never goes away. as for actual aging of the weather-worn variety, i've observed that that happens in spurts, and it's different for everybody. one person may look 35 at 25 and continue to look 35 until they're 40; another may look to be in their early 20s until mid 30 and whamo!, they begin to look their age within a period of a few years. |

It's all about the hands.
Look at the backs of the hands for a good judgement about age. No plastic surgery for that, that I know of. You can't judge exact age by that, but you can tell if a semi-young-looking person who seems to act older is indeed older. |

i disagree; there's no accounting for profession there. as a prolific artist since age 12, my hands have looked like a 40 year old man's since high school. |

Age spots.
Old hands look different than hard-working hands.
It's not a tell-all thing, just part of the whole age equation. |

she looks about 14 from the neck up, and about 18 from the neck down. I'd be asking for ID that's for sure |

Based on the picture below, would you guess the same age?
BigBlackEquus,
How old do those hands make her look?
