|

I live in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and just got digital cable. For a one-year contract at 19,000 won a month including free installation, I get like 150 channels including all of the sports channels, CNN, BBC, AFN, ABC Asia-Pacific, Star Sports and the French channel TV5, but unfortunately, no Discovery Channel.
I get an additional 30 audio channels with Korean and foreign pop. The pay per view option is usually for Korean movies, and I don't plan on using it.
The only drawback is that the cable box has no HD convertor thus I have to switch video inputs if I want to see stuff in HD. |

What sports channels are you talking about? ESPN, ABC, Fox Sports, or just the traditional Asian ones that show 24 hr. cricket and table tennis? I'm looking for access to coverage of NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB...let me know if you get regular coverage... |

AFN has regular coverage of NFL games, and that's the only reason I need that channel. With the NHL strike over, AFN will also give substantial coverage to pro hockey as it has done for years.
SBS Sports on Thursday nights has a repeat broadcast of a selected NFL game and Xsports has live coverage of the MLB playoffs. MBC ESPN shows English Premier League games having ManU or Tottenham, as does Star Sports, and French soccer action having FC Metz (Ahn Jung-hwan's pro team). KBS Sky Sports carries the Spanish soccer league and Germany's Bundesliga.
AFN, MBC ESPN and Xtm feature the NBA. |

My friend in Mok-dong gets Fox Sports Australia but I don't. I know that either Fox Sports Australia or ABC Sports is available in Korea.
My cable provider is also testing a few new channels including Nickolodeon. |

Digital cable can encode more information about the programs being broadcast. You typically get an interactive menu. That's pretty darn cool to use.
But I live for Discovery channel. |

I don't know if other areas get digital cable, but the pic, sound and channel selections are awesome. Considering I got fewer channels in Los Angeles yet I paid about 10,000 won more per hour, this is a nice deal. |
