What dreams have you had, the ones that are so vivid it is like you are there and that you still remember years later. It might be interesting to hear about peoples dreams. |

Ooh, there are a couple really wierd ones on a thread on Mithridates' forum.
I'd cut and paste mine, but the forum seems to be down right now, and I have to get some sleep. |

When I was a kid, I used to have extremely vivid dreams of dinosaurs ravaging the countryside. (I happened to live in the countryside.) It was always the exact same dream and I always woke at the exact same moment. I used to be afraid to go to sleep. Eventually, it went died down to about 3-4 occurences a year. One day, my dad and I were talking about dreams and he mentioned that he had frequently had a dream about dinosaurs destroying our house. I asked questions and it was really freaky....he basically described his dream from his point of view...I mean, from his point of view when he was in MY dream!!! In his dream, he saw my sister and I running frantically to get away, he saw my mother get eaten, and then T-Rex picked him up. In my dream, as my sister and I are running away, I see T-rex eat first my mom, then my dad. Our details on the dream were basically the same. I won't get into them because there were too many.
After we talked about it, neither of us ever had it again. I still remember it rather vividly, though I haven't dreamed it since elementary school. I wonder if he remembers?? |

Lately, being poor, I've drank a bit of soju. I've always had freaky dreams, but that crap really brings them on. And all my dreams are unique, totally unlike any other and totally far out and largely hard to put into words except for a few sketchy details. The other night I was back in my mom's home and a Korean girl I had a crush on was living in my buddy's house just a few houses up the road, apparently she was his cousin. She called me to say she was home alone and only wearing her panties and wanted me to come over and bring her some clean underwear. I got lost somehow on the way, and showed up late to see the family back there. Weird but sexy in a way. I also brought two oranges. ... and i was lost in an electronics market, which my hometown doesn't have...
all thanks to soju I guess... |

Why do you think I left not only the State, but the entire country? |

The reason that I started this thread is a dream I had the other night that seemed to be in the future with some pretty amazing technology. Planes that hover and can move in any direction. But at the same time, a society very controlled, night curfew, spybots that fly around tracking people, etc.
But the dream that really sticks in my mind started with me leaving my folks, who coincidently were overseas and I hadn't seen in 2 years. It was just like I was there talking to them, I left the house and entered a dark place ( a play fort) where I was attacked and I fought with many men in a black area. It went on for hours, just when I was about to give up, I seemed to win.
I left the place and found myself walking towards the edge of a very high cliff. It was so high that large ships on the sea looked like toys. The sky was covered with dark clouds. Three huge water spouts were tearing up the sea and the thought came to me, "so this is what the end of the World looks like", then I woke up. Ten years, I still remember looking at the sea.
I was curious about other peoples dreams, how do we get them. Why are some so vivid and others are forgotten as soon as you wake up. |

Yeah. The wife & I were at some concert in an African nation inside a huge old wooden building. Then our chairs were up on the stage and we were watching the concert on a huge TV screen and the audience was watching us watch this big TV. Then there was this unrest and panic and we crawled out of the auditorium under the legs of the crowd and walked back to our van (*shrugs*) and we found all the doors open and her bag was open but all her valuables were still there. Then we saw our cat sitting on the back seat but he hadn't run away until we saw him and then he jumped out of the car and ran up onto the roof of the building so we were chucking stones at him to get him down and all these little black kids were watching us. Then he came down and started running towards us but these kids started chucking stones at him coz they thought that we were doing it for fun and so they were chucking stones at our cat for fun too. End.

When I was around twelve I had an episodic dreamin which I had a make-out session with a girl I had a crush on. I don't remember all the details, but it was four episodes, I woke between each one, WANTED to continue the dream and was able to. Ended with a wedding. I can still see some parts of the dream perfectly.
Have had other episodic dreams.
Also, had a repeating nightmare of being on a grass stretching endlessly in all directions. It startssplitting into equal, parallel slices and I fall through into blackness. Woke up as I was still falling. |

I had a dream the other night about a complex way to write English letters, where a candle is embedded in each letter, which is shaped to be a candle holster. It was about a week ago and I sat down last night to write the letters out. They look cool. |

My dreams last night were so vivid and juicy I just had to write them down when I awoke. Very hedonistic, so I think I'll keep them to myself.
I did however have a real heart-breaker last week. This is the start of my second year away from the family, and after a disturbingly eventful week (sliced my finger badly and ended up in emergency to pay 140,000 won to finally stop the bleeding, nearly electrocuted myself by dropping a knife on an extension cord, flooded my apartment with a capricious washing machine, fell down some stairs --bruises are still healing--, lost my purse, got stranded in Osaka without money, etc., etc.,) and I missed their love and support.
In my dream, I was watching a reunion of sorts: my youngest sister was being embraced by the family, but they were all off in the distance, and out of my reach. Behind me were strangers watching me sob with frustration. In front of me was a coop full of rabbits and chickens, with their respective baby bunnies and chicks. They filled my view as I continued to cry.
There is a happy ending here, fortunately. The phone rang and woke me up. I didn't recognize the voice. It was my sister, whom I hadn't spoken to in months. We'd been mutually alienated by an argument during my summer visit, and I wasn't expecting to hear from her at all. She was sunny and lovely, and it wasn't long before I understood why the scene with the baby farm animals had fuelled such intense sadness in me. These little ones had their families around them. I envied them bitterly. However, my sister's voice was a great comfort. The letters and calls from my family have been more regular these days, and my life has been quite peril free for some time. |

Do any of you teachers use the 'Night Side of Life' activity in convo classes? I used that one a lot for intermediates and above. Anyway, apparently the 'discovery of the meaning of life / genius inventions' set of dreams are quite common, with about 60% of people reporting having had one. In the one I had, I invented a set of tools/ equipment for improving toddlers' physical skills and dexterity at a much faster rate than usual. More dexterity in their hands, grasping and manipulating objects, etc. I was lauded in the dream, but awoke to silence.

I had a dream last night that I finished my teaching contract and went home to join the navy. Emmediately after joining up, they send me to Korea for training. We spend some time standing in line doing half-arsed marching drills, then they give us our uniforms and tell us that General Lee will be coming around shortly to give us new recruits a little speech. With time to kill, I wander along the murky pier by the navy base. I go up to a food stand to get some grub, and whattayaknow! I run into General Lee himself, a korean version of Captain Nemo from the original 20,000 leages under the sea movie. He's even wearing the same navy blue coat and the same hairdo. Determined to give off a good first impression, I greet him with "an-yong haseyo." The foodstand ajummah gasps. General Lee looks delighted that I speak korean, and says "an-yong. Where are you from?" I answer "Montreal." He looks confused. I say "MON-TREH-AAL!" He looks less confused. He asks "Is that prefecture or city?" I say "City." He says "OK" but still looks dumfounded. I walk away disapointed, and come across a full length mirror. I look at myself, in my sailor's outfit, and only then notice that I haven't shaved in over a week. THE END
and that's the first dream I've ever had with any korean spoken. |

The one reoccuring dream I have is that I'll be somewhere -- anywhere, such as my best friend's house, Namdaemun market, the dentist's -- and all of a sudden I'll notice that there's a menacing lion nearby.
Anyone know what that might signify (besides me being a homosexual, of course)?
