| That might have been exciting news if it had been released before the Archos, or even the PSP. I guess it's good news for Apple that some people will always choose a product that starts with an "i" over anything else. |

| Are you retarded. This will be the best selling product this holiday season. Its thinner and cheaper than the PSP and thinner and more availble than Archos. |

It may very well be.
Will people be buying it because it's the best product in terms of both performance and value?
Or because the kids all want "iPod" and the parents and grandparents don't know any better?
I could be wrong, but I'll wait to read real reviews rather than Apple.com marketing copy.
And no, I'm not retarded- that distinction is reserved for people who name their handles after Moorcock characters. |

A 2.5" screen that isn't widescreen, runs in extreme low-res, and only plays Quicktime videos? People are not going to be using it to watch movies as the hoops involved are not worth it, and even if you do then you get to use half the screen as movies are widescreen. Watching a movie on a screen resolution of 320x120 and under a 2" viewing area, only the exceptionally dedicated will want to do that. And that isn't even factoring in Apple's usually poor battery life. |

Look its the best you can do for the pricepoint/battery life/ size. It runs quicktime and MPEG4 (the same as the PSP). A PSP is about $300 USand $100 for 1 GB memory card.
If you want a some sort of 7" TFT widescreen portable that plays DIVX you are dreaming. A 10.6" laptop is $1000+. Archos is fine, but ugly and hard to find. Maybe you will like the XGamePark. Bigger screen and plays DIVX and games. |

| I'm trying to find out more about this 'gizmodo' thing I hear is apparently all the rage in Europe right now, but when I search I always hit links to the gizmodo website which has nothing to do with the product. |

That's the Gizmondo. And they are going bankrupt. WTF would you put GPS on a piece of garbage machine with no game maker support. |

| Is anyone in the US (or elsewhere) able to bring one of these over to Korea for me before they're available here if I send the cash? |

this is not for watching movies, what you will see however is more and more people watching tv programs on the things. Older people won't like these things that much but those youngsters who are growing up with Game boys in their faces will love this and they will make their parents buy this.
Plus porno on the go? Way to go Apple! |

Never mind that the PSP screen has three times the surface area and would display movies at six times the size as it is widescreen thus wouldn't be wasting half the screen with a letterbox while offering a longer battery life. And a PSP does a lot more too like play games, wireless Internet, and whatnot.

A 4" widescreen or higher model would have been nice. A 2.5" model that isn't widescreen so the actual viewed movie will be less than 2" wide and in a resolution half of what VGA was in 1988, that's not useful.
Unless it's worth looking at, it's a useless feature. Of the people I know, most were looking forward to a video iPod as they thought it would include a far more useful screen and a movie download service. As they failed to materialize, their enthusiasm ceased to be.

The GamePark XGP won't be on sale for at least a year, while the GamePark Holding's GP2X ships later this month. I've seen them both up and personal while submitting my opinion on the overseas marketability of the units and doing write-ups for technology magazines.
But yes, a GP2X with a 1GB memory card would be the same price while offering a far larger screen and thus a far more useful video player. |

| The folks in my Videoblogger group are pretty psyched about it. The trouble is that Apple has these draconian requirements to get included as an iPod channel. |
