Sanbon is just down the road from Pyeongchon. Do a search and you should be able to get an idea about the place. Don't worry you aren't moving into a ghetto, Sanbon is a nice place to live.

i go through Sanbon on my way into seoul. it seems pleasant enough, and you're close to a transfer station (Geumjong) and roughly a 45 minute subway ride into downtown.

I lived there for over a year. Sanbon's great. If you know Bundang I've always thought of it as Sanbon level 2, if you know what I mean.

One thing I love about Sanbon is the view of the mountain hovering over the town when you first walk out of the subway station. I used to go to Sanbon regularly. There's some good mandu there. I also hear there's a decently priced Japanese hibachi restaurant.

That mountain's great; I used to go there every night after work. Sanbon has just enough coffee shops to study in if you like that sort of thing, a number of bars that aren't too bad, and Anyang's close. Plus the air is way nicer but Seoul isn't too far and having line 4 makes it easy to get straight to Myeongdong or anywhere else.
Op, have you checked into which part of Sanbon you'll be in? Right by the station is way better. Some of the teachers from the place where I used to work had places by the mountain but they got the school to get them some smaller officetels right by the station as they didn't like having to take both the bus and the subway to get into Seoul.

Hello all,

I have only been here two weeks, but i like Sanbon so far. I lived in Busan last year, big city, it has more services and restaurants for sure. But, Sanbon's air is such a relief from Busan. I did visit Anyang, seems pretty cool too. They have this international cookie shop, it has all kinds of stuff. Anyone know this place? Anyway, to the original poster, I am close to Geumjong station. If you want, pm me when you get here. I don't know many people here yet, and would like to meet some new people in the area. By the way, for those who may not know, there is a New Krispy Kreme opening in Bundang this week!! I was there, but they closed after they ran out of samples. It's near the huge Samsung Plaza stores.

Yea, Sanbon, Pyoungchon, Bumgay, Anyang area is by far my favorite place to live since I've been in Korea. You are lucky to be starting out in this area.

I am also pretty new to Sanbon.
I've been to the Pirate bar which I think is the main hang out bar for foreigners here.
It's about 2 streets back on the left from main pedestrian drag when u come out of Sanbon station and go over bridge. It's called King of Pirates on the 3rd or 4th floor.
