it depends how long your planning on leaving for but usually the vet has a "city type" kennel -meaning not much fresh air and a whole lot of cramming. they get walked a couple of times of day...it isn't country living but it might do the job.

The reason I ask is because I posted earlier about the same thing; Denz had 2 or 3 links in his response.

Glen

Can I help???

If you are looking for an actual pup, I would suggest the koreaanimals.org address above.

HOWEVER, if you would like to adopt a cute, adolescent, housebroken jam-bbong-gye, C & I have one that needs a good home. I could send you pics, or let you meet her. She's in very good health; she just wants/needs a lot of activity and attention.

(the full story is in another 'animal shelter' thread, if you are curious - just do a search for my profile name posts)

Regards,

G.

Also check out Yongsan. AFRTS is always playing the adopt a leftover animal commercial. They'll already have their shots and you won't have the quarinteen (sp?) hassle to deal with when you come home. Call the number, find the truth.

Where do you keep your dog when you go on vacation? Last time we found a lady who runs a sort of mini-kennel out of her apt., but at W30,000 a day (food not included) she didn't come cheap.

Whoa! That's waaaaaay too much! I'm in Pyoungchon area and I have a regular doggy daycare that I bring my pup to play and stay. She charges 5,000 won a day or 10,000 won overnight. Now that I buy food and treats there, she doesn't charge me to drop my dog off for a few hours. When I went to Jeju-do for Chusok, my travel agent found a really good overnight vet clinic to house my dog. (The other place was closed on Chusok and would only drop by to feed and water my baby).

In Seoul it shouldn't be much more...if my boyfriend and I go to Itaewon, we sometmes bring the dog for hospital visits (shots) and they take care of her for 5,000 won. Walk around and look for pet stores in the area, or vet clinics. See how often they clean up and if the dogs there are happy. You want to find a clean place or your dog could catch some nasties. Most understand a little english, enough to communicate how much, etc. Good luck!

I think the going rate for an overnight stay for your dog is 10,000 won...

However, I am so lucky... My vet keeps my dog overnight for free... I went on a week's vacation recently and didn't have to pay a cent... Really well taken care of, and a nice clean clinic with a fenced in yard so the dogs can run around and play...

But my pup is a beagle. Those tiny little cages in the clinics/pet stores are pure misery for him. Maybe one night is OK, but a week?
