noisy soju *beep* neighbors, actually i don't mean to impune the character of these women... i'm sure there are many other far more respectable reasons why they come home at 4:30 or 5 AM with male guests and begin to make lots of noise until the moaning starts... then it quiets down for a little while at least...

it usually happens at least twice a week

what would you do?

i work a split-shift so sleep is very precious, my school supposedly lodged a complaint with the building superintendent on my behalf... but a Korean coteacher told me that she had a similar problem and it took 3 months until something was actually done... they only quieted down the week she started moving her stuff out...

i've been a noisy neighbor before, but this is just obnoxious...

Wind up your stereo at 6am when you wake up for your first shift. Or maybe leave it on when you leave for work.

Oh gosh, I had one of those at my old place. Once he came home at 4am, banged on my door trying to get me to come out and join him - and I mean banging loudly for five minutes, and then stood outside singing at the top of his lungs for 45 minutes, I kid you not.

I called in sick the next day, my only sick day so far in Korea. Had the problem repeated I would have kept calling in sick until my boss got on the landlord's case.

I truly believe that once you consume too much soju that you are compos non mentos ie not aware of anything you do. A few years ago I had a soju hound banging on my door at 3:30 am. After 5 minutes, I was really pissed and opened the door and threw a bucket of water on him. To my horror I realized too late it was my upstairs neighbour, a normally meek and mild decent guy who was quite helpful to me, being the only English speaker in the building. I realized he had the wrong door when I saw his key in my lock so I just took him upstairs and banged on his door until his wife came and got him. A couple of days later I apologized for the soaking. He didn't have a clue what I was talking about and when I explained he became very embarrased and it was obvious that he truly had no recollection of what had happened. He apologized profusely and was very angry with his wife for not telling him. It turns out she had just assumed he got soaked somewhere else in his soju stupor and never mentioned it to him

After seeing the effect it had on this normally respectable, well mannered guy, to this day, I refuse to touch the stuff.

I feel badly for you, but until they raise the price of this stuff to 10k won a bottle, the problem will always be with us. I'd probably just move if I were you, cuz buddy isn't going to stop drinking soju.

My neighbors pulled that crap on me when they moved in. The first few weeks I just tapped on the wall, but that did not work too well. One night they were partying, and I decided that I had had it, so I took the clock off of my wall and paid them a nice visit with bad intentions. I walked over, pressed on the doorbell, and heard a surpirsed voice through the intercomm say - nuguseyo?

Open the door! I demanded in my evil I'm going to kill everyone in the house voice. When the door opened I let loose at the top of my lungs with...

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!
IT'S 4 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING.
I WANNA SLEEP... SLEEEEP!

Needless to say they were shocked to see a crazy, hairy, caveman in his drawers, pointing at a clock and dropping a steady stream of precision voice bombs right through their open front door.

I rocked that house like Metallica on New Years Eve. Problem solved.

Fond memory.
