A cheap hotel/motel in the Yongsan Gu/Itaewon/Namyong area?

Anyone know of a decent place near Yongsan Station, or Itaewon, or Samgakiji Station, or Sookmyung Womens University Station, or Namyong Station etc? It will be for early December, so heating would be necessary.Something under 30,000WON?

Please send advise.

Thank you

I can think of a few on hooker hill. One near the bottom of the hill, where it starts, not far from Geckos. Another at the very top of the hill, called, 'The Hilltop Hotel'. Both are gonna be 30,000 or maybe less if you negotiate a longer rate.

Really, if I were you and you wanted something in any of those areas, I would just look for the yagwon symbol, walk inside, and ask them how much for a night. Ask if you can see a room.

Seoul Motel in Itaewan is the best deal for both price and cleanliness. About 40,000 won. Located right next to the Mcdonalds.

Stayed in a place called the Tae Pyung Motel which is on Hooker's Hill, directly across from Polly's Kettle.

A picture of the entrance.

Tiny rooms, but clean, they had the ondol heating and an air conditioner, and the sheets/blankets were clean. Decent shower/bathroom, and only cost 30,000/night. Not too shabby, really.

I left 450 k in my room at Seoul Motel on July 23rd (managed by a f'in 'C' to boot) and returned later to find 100k of the cash gone. Politely asked questions about the cashola were met by extremely lame and hostile responses.

Forget about Seoul Motel as a joint in which to park one's carcass: It is overpriced, has very weak water pressure in its shower nozzles, and the front desk and cleaning staff are A-Holes! That is my opinion.

On the other hand, Hooker Hill's Hilltop Hotel has decent water pressure, is cheaper, and the television and family that runs the joint are much better compared to the Fillipina that acts like God and her phony cable deal at Seoul Motel. More, it is a soft toss from Polly's Kettle and other cheapo bars where you can get good grub and cheap drinks. What else would one need, etc.?

Can we get exact walking directions for the Hilltop? Do you take the first left after "What the Book," or is it up the hill with the Mosque, or do you just walk past Starbutts and keep going straight?

Appreciated, thank you.

Go to I'taewon Station and look for the exit on your immediate left after you deposit your subway ticket into the whatever it is called (turnstile?). The staircase in question is the one that leads one up to the Burger King. Whenst thou gets to the top, walkest straighest, thou about-to-be-initiated one. After grooving along for about 50 metres, you'll see an intersection. Go right, and then take the first left. The Hilltop Hotel is the thing at the very top of the hill (a.k.a., "Hooker Hill") in the middle of the street.

You are in for a real treat at the Hilltop Hotel - cherish your time there.

What Roch meant is that it's at the top of the Hooker Hill (I guess).

There's a bazillion places to stay in the general area. There's even a yeogwon across from the Hilton by Namdaemun. I wouldn't know prices because I live around here now, but I reckon it's the same deal.

There's a yogwan in Haebangchon beside the . (Pharmacy with the big red sign) I think it's called ""(Myung Ji Yeogwan).

Had some guests for a week, and they preferred to sleep there - of course, all we had was a mat on the floor for them. We'd just moved back here ourselves.

I think they got them down to about 23,000 won per night. They stayed a week, though. New place - seems very clean.

There's also the hostel above the sandwich shop: I think he's renovating now (making room for pool and darts in the bar on the second floor) but it'll be less than twenty a night.

Haebangchon is next to Itaewon. The subway stop is Noksapyeong.
