Hey everyone... does anyone have a source where I can find a Thai style mortar and pestle... one of the green granite ones? I currently have cheap little wood one I got in a market... and it just really does not do as good a job as I would like. I had one of these in Canada... but have yet to find one around Korea. I'm in Daegu... but would consider a pilgrimage to Seoul to find one... I've attached a picture as well.

Thanks!

I saw some decent sized morter pestles at E mart in Suwon by the bus station...the same material as the stone soup bowls.

I would say print off a picture of the morter pestle and ask around...I know Koreans use them so they are out there!

Oddly enough I have had the EXACT same thing sitting under my sink for the past 4 years that was given to me as a wedding present. I thought about giving it to you but I'm relocating back to NZ in feb and decided to send it back home in the container with the rest of the household stuff. Sorry.
Like Grotto said I've seen them in the local supermarkets though they don't look like the one in your picture.
