I was just reading the post about people being attacked and, although I've never been attacked in Korea or known anyone who has, I have seen some interesting things in the 2.5 months I've been here so I thought it might be fun for us to share some of the truly odd ball (maybe at the time - a little frightening or confusing) things that have happened to us.

Two incidents stand out in my memory, the most recent occuring at about 1:00am this morning.

I am Canadian, and I am going to embrace a stereotype here by saying that a lot of Canadians do not lock the door to their houses during the day if they're at home. We're not afraid of someone attacking us in broad daylight in our own homes.

Well, last night I obviously forgot to throw the bolt before I went to bed (I've forgotten before and I'm not really afraid because I believe Korea to be pretty safe and the chance of something happening pretty marginal).

But last night a young guy came bursting into my apartment, probably drunk, though he didn't hang around long enough for me to find out. The light came on, the dog barked and I screamed. He bolted out the door so fast that by the time I got to it and looked out the only sign of him was the sound of his foot steps running down the stairs. I probably scared him worse then he scared me.

It was likely just one of the army kids that crashes in the apartment across the hall. Though I did bolt my door before going back to bed. Very Happy

The second incident is a little more freaky.

I was hanging some laundry on the roof of my building when I happened to look up at the roof of the building across the street only to see a Korean man airing his birthday suit. Maybe he was doing laundry too. Shocked

The thing is that this guy just stood there watching me, all the jewels on display, even after I had obviously noticed him. Really freaky.

Anyway, share your stories, I'm sure there are some good ones out there.
