Hiya,
I'm in Pusan from Vladivostok for a visa run this week (until Oct 2), and was wondering what I should hit up while I'm here. My school put me in a decent place (Arirang Hotel) with free internet, so there's some time killed, but I'm looking for other input. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

That's a relief. Thought there was an actual hanging in Pusan by a teacher. |

Hanging has not been carried out here for some years. Although the reintroduction of it as a public spectacle may excite some of the conservatives on this board. |

I used to live there so try these:
Nampo-dong market. It's right off the green line (If I remember right.) It's always worth a look. Haundaee beach (don't ask me if I'm spelling that right is one of the big tourist attractions. Though it might not be as good this time of year. And no trip to Pusan is complete with out a trip up the Pusan tower.
Enjoy |

Check out the Pusan National University area. Sorry, can't remember it's location, eh.
By the way, what's Vladivostok like? Any chicks on the horizon? (Or, dare I inquire, on the horizontal?) |

Thanks for the tips. Should keep me busy for a bit.
Roch,
Vladivostok is cool. I've signed on for another year, which is why I'm in Korea getting a new visa. The city itself is rather ho-hum, but the people are cool (and, yes, the chicks are nice too).

I guess there are universities there. What other types of institutions are available to teach in.
My only problem would be the cold. |

Sorry for the flippant remark earlier, I like T-street in Busan, always some interesting types there, Russians (usually mixed Korean-Russian) and sailors from around the world. I like to sit in one of the Filippina owned bar/restaurants and watch the world go by. Anyhow, regarding Vlad and Russia, what are the working conditions like there, what kind of loot do you make (if you don't mind me asking) and how is the lifestyle? |

Do you speak russian. Is it necessary. I have heard there are a lot of ethnic Koreans there as well.
many Russian chicks trying to latch on to get out of the country? |

I speak "get by" Russian. Obviously a grasp of the language helps quite a bit. Sometimes it's better to not know (or pretend that you don't know) what they're saying, however.
There are a ton of Koreans and Chinese in Vladivostok.

Yes, but not as many as you'd think. It is easy to meet girls, though, as westerners are rare in Vladivostok.

I like the school (EF) that I'm in--great students, decent conditions, all right management (for Russia, that is).
I make about $1500 (depending on exchange rate, as I'm paid in Rubles)/month.
I guess there are universities there. What other types of institutions are available to teach in.
I work at an English First. That's about it there outside the universities.
My only problem would be the cold.
Not as cold as one might think; warmer winters than Minnesota (which isn't saying much...). |

Busan?
Haeundae is a bit over rated but the aquarium there is pretty nice. Also is a hike up to a waterfall somewhere at the VERY end of that subway line.
Nampodong is kinda neat...kinda neat, and kinda boring unless you know where to go.
Beomosa is a nice temple; a little removed from everything...very purty.
Pusan National Uni. area? Well, I'm playing music there on Friday night. PM me for details and/or directions.
If you REALLy wanna kill some time, you can take a public busride outta town and go up to Tongdosa Temple: It's one of the three big ones in Korea. But bring a book cause dang that would be a long ride.
Haeundae is on the green (2) line. The other three are ALL on the orange line (1) except Tongodosa |
