Can anyone give me the exact location of Shoestring travel in Hongdae? I went there last saturday in an effort to find the place but had no luck. I just ended up walking around in circles Confused I even asked a few people but they didn't know.
I checked out the english map on their website but they seem to have moved. It says that they are located next to Burger King and Popeyes near exit 6 of Hongik station, but the Burger King and Popeyes have been closed down and there's no sign of the travel agency. So if anyone has the goods on where they are located then please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I've been before and can't remember exactly where it was- I think down the street next to Coffee Beand & Tea Leaf, towards that Evisu shop.

Why don't you give them a call though? They speak english.

Ilovebdt,

that's exactly the map that I tried to follow but I couldn't find the place and I was told that Burger King/Popeyes is not there any more Confused Some girl sent me in the opposite direction towards Hongik University but I couldn't find it there either. Is that an old/new map? Any ideas? I guess I could try calling them Idea

Aw, sorry to hear that man. I haven't been there, but intend to to check out flights to San Fran. If you have a cellphone I suggest you go that area and then call them when you are there for directions.

Good luck!

It is hard to locate.. but I've been there - great collection of Lonely Planets along the wall as well.

Basically if you are at that corner with Hongik's Front Gate (McDonalds & Hana Bank) on the other two corners.. STAY on the Hongik University side.

If you are facing the university.. go left (you'd be walking towards Shinchon direction). Its only about one block I believe and not far away from there.. but take the first RIGHT going up a hill.

Just walk up a little bit and be looking on the LEFT.. you'll see a patio.. go into that store with the patio.. you'll see tons of Lonely Planet books and the entire office in that building - doesn't look like a typical storefront from the outside.

Tiger Beer's directions are perfect -- I visited Shoestring today. The map on the website is completely incorrect. Maybe there's a better map on the Korean side of the site?

However, their prices for a one-way ticket to Bangkok in late November were much (W100,000+) higher than at Top Travel. So...no thanks.

Thanks for the advice. maybe I should call first just to get a quote on a price for a return ticket to Bangkok in late december. I was quoted a price of 570.000won plus 69.000won tax at Xanadu travel agency in itaewon, so something a little lower than that would be nice.

i bought a ticket from there a few years ago, but i seem to remember the last time i was in hongdae it had gone out of business.

walk down the street where hongik uni is toward sincheon, hang a left at the coffee bean and tea leaf. grab yourself a kickass bubble smoothie at the smabble kiosk (on your right) and continue down the street. you will see it straight ahead and on the right.

but like i said, i think it's gonesville.
