its sad how it went that far.. everyone just turning a blind eye
a ajuma being hit by a adosi! I think it wouldnt matter what back ground you can from back home. if any man hit a girl in a public place that man would be jumped!
and if the man is being hit by the girl. then we would just assume he deserves it hahahahah
but once he got the better her.. then he will be jumped.

Yes i agree... its sad in this country that people turn a blind eye to such violence..

I've seen it a number of times.. just a disgrace to korea..

I chuckle and laugh when i see this happen.. 1. because its rediculous to see everyone stand there and do nothing.. and if your lucky u might see someone say something.. but i've never seen anyone jump in and try to stop it.. and 2. i know that if i tried to interviene i might be at fault.. if it were my country i would have jumped in and stopped it..

Korean men, have so much power over women, its a disgrace.. the way they talk down to them in public. its a lack of respect..

although it might help if the govnt changes its laws.. how stupid, they consider the person who gets their ass kicked the most as the innocent party.. makes me laugh..

but, like i've been told before.. "oh, this is korea and u must understand our culture".. sure, i guess. I should understand that women are slaves to their husbands.. i cant count the number of married female friends i know, who are unhappy because "she must follow his family". they don't like to admit the truth because its shameful..

i wonder why this country has such a high rate of divorce.. hmmmm..

makes u think!

The reason people don't get involved to help is that they get victimised in court. Why help some total stranger if it will result in you being assaulted and sued? especially if you're a foreigner.

I don't think people care if a woman is assaulted by a man in public over here. Never seen anyone jump in. They just ignore it. Last time I saw it, I tried to get the woman away from him and even hailed a taxi/offered her cash for a ride to get out of there. But she went walked off back with him. Lovers tiff apparently.

If you didn't stand to lose so much by doing the right thing, I think more people would step in.

I have noticed in situations like this Koreans tend to crowd around and settle in to watch a great spectacle (the lowest form of theater according to Aristotle's Poetics). And then you come along and those who notice the foreigner noticing the Koreans all trying to horn in on some shoes off, bare knuckle ajumma bust up seem rather shamed.

Yeah, ashamed or just curiously amused. The worst recent quarrel I witnessed was on a bus. You don't know what's up when you walk in in the middle of these things. You don't know how high the tension & decibel level has already risen.

Everything seemed quiet and normal...well, a bit quieter than normal when I boarded. Suddenly an ajuma is blasting this old coot three seats away an earful. I casually glance back to see where and who... the guy is getting up and two people beside him are pulling him back down. I noticed the ajuma kept rubbing her neck below her ear, as though he'd smacked her there. They'd obviously been going at it.

And then SCREEEECH!!! The bus driver slams on the brakes and we (standing passengers) go tumbling forward. The screaming and swearing get very intense, the driver refuses to go further, other passengers are getting antsy, everyone's cranky... And these school girls are constantly glancing up at the foreigner, giggling amongst themselves in that hand-over-mouth tee-hee! fashion. They didn't seem embarrassed. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. If I weren't there, it would be just another boring bus ride home.
