I got this yesterday and spend several hours playing it and thought I'd check and see if anyone else is a fan of the series and is going to be picking it up or already has it.

My initial impressions on the game, incase anyone is interested, are as follows.

First off, I like it. It's got quite a different feel then the previous versons and it does take a little getting used to, but a great game so far. There is plenty of action, lots of shoot-em up style, and some good weapons so far. The double pistols is all kinds of fun, and very deadly once the upgrades kick in.

It all centers around Ratchet, sans Clank, who is kidnapped by Gleeman Vox, to star in his Running Man style tv show where heros from across the galaxy fight to the death. Clank is still in the picture, but he's only there to give tips, advice, and warn Ratchet of dangerous situations. He's no longer worn on the back, which means no more long jumps or the gliding down from hights etc. Al, the geek from the other games, is also there. He invents upgrades and mods to some of Ratchets hardware and his battle bots.

It doesn't look like you'll have near as many weapons this time around as in previous installments. From what I can tell, there's only space for 9. Instead of a sick amount of guns, however, you can get mods for each weapon. All the weapons still upgrade with use, but the mods, for instance the acid mod, which lingers after hitting an opponant and causes more damage, can be added on top of the upgrades for a little extra kick. I haven't completely figured out how the mods work, but it's very customizable and supposedly you can change them up to butter suit whatever fighting style you might have.

The battles are almost all arena style. Kind of like an entire game built around the Anihilation Nation section of Up Your Arsenal. There are timed bouts, capture nodes, defeat so many enemies, etc. I'm getting along in the story and it looks like there might be more old-style R&C coming up as Clank and Al try to find a way to get free. To keep with the Running Man theme, they're even all fitted with collars that will blow if they're tampered with or if they go in to unrestricted areas.

Also, a lot more vehichle combat. One word: Landstalker. The game also has a new cooperative play mode and the online mode.

So far, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I'd be interested in hearing about other opinions on the game, if anyone wants to share.
