My sister-in-law seemingly did it for free with impunity, but is it absolutely necessary to pay some company a monthly charge? With all the coolstreaming links to watch free tv, I figure there must be a way to still scam the phone company too.

I use skype and skypeout. It cost me 10 pounds which lets me call for an average of us0.02cents/minute to most countries. Crystal clear quality and no complaints.

I also use Skype...

Skype - Free computer to computer telephone calls
SkypeOut - from a computer to a land line at approximately .02 US cents per minute...

SkypeIn - a telephone number where people in the US can call (just like a regular local number) and it rings my compter here in my Seoul apartment. For them, it is just like making a local call. SkypeIn costs me around $40 US a year.

I have a 4,000 won headset that works wonderfully. I'm a big Skype fan!

i recommend skype as well. usually during the morning and afternoon the call quality sucks (i got disconnected 6 times in about 20 minutes), but the evenings and early morning (1 or 2am) are really good. for $.02 /minute u can't beat it
