I noticed while skimming through the playlist book at the Noribang (they all seem to have the same book) that there were about 10 songs by Stryper, alternative Christian rockers of the 80s whom Sunday school teachers throughout North America recommended to sheltered Christian children who might find ordindary demonically possessed heavy metal music appealling. What's with this? Were they very popular in Korea once upon a time? I don't suppose they've done a duet with BoA...

You can never have too many Stryper songs...

a lot of weird and obscure metal bands are popular here.

dream theater i can understand, the bassist is korean-american.

mr. big... i can't understand.

for some reason germany's HELLOWEEN are popular too. that is totally beyond me.

i would think that the fact that stryper were dirty crosslickers appeals to the christian population in korea, which i'm pretty sure is rather high. no statistics there.

anyone ever hear stryper's non-christian album? the one where they were trying to cross over and get a wider audience? as if the band wasn't doomed already...

That's one of those weird things. You're on the other side of the world and you find in some basement no rae bang like TWO versions of 99 Luftballoons...

A noribang is a playroom (I think.) A norAEbang is a singing room.

...sorry.
