Dreams Come True
Last May, local female R&B vocal group Big Mama was officially asked by top American R&B figure Boyz II Men to have a concert together. Now, the concert will actually be held here in Korea as Boyz II Men will make a visit to Seoul as a part of the promotional tour for their new album in November. Boyz II Men recently released an album of re-made songs entitled Throwback Vol.1.With the album, the American R&B group is in the course of rising as an absolute king of R&B music. Big Mama also released a new album recently and is busy performing in national tour concerts. The encounter of the two R&B groups will be a great opportunity for music lovers to enjoy the heavenly harmony of voices.

Another prime example of how American bands only come to Korea after they're way over the hill. I bet it's the same promoters who brought Hanson last year.

I saw them (BIIM) in Jakarta earlier this year. Before you all go and drag my musical credibility through the mud, I have seen the Ramones and Iggy Pop live. My wife is a fan of BIIM and bought me a ticket. Needless to say I was dragged kicking and screaming to the venue. The warm up act was Indonesia's biggest R&B artist, someone I had previously been dragged to see, so I made for the concession and got into the beer. Having promised my wife I would actually watch the show with her, I snuck back in with as much beer as I could put down my pants and in my pockets. Being down on the floor, I had a good view, given that the average Indonesian is 5 ft tall and I am 6'6". The average age was 15, good lawd, it was like being back at a blue light disco in my youth. I chugged back another beer, praying that my stash would see me through this hormone-fest. When the BoyZ finally did come out, I was surprised. I could barely remember their hits in the 90s as I was too busy being a grunger/slacker and travelling the world with a bong stuck to my lips. Anyhow, it may have been the beer or the thrill of slow dancing with the wife, but they actually put on a good show and weren't that bad! Not that I am about to run out and buy their entire back catalog, nor am I urging you all to get yourselves a ticket, but there are worse things you can be dragged to.

I'm sure they're talented singers, but they're still washed out. Washed up?
