I can't say I remember it as I've never seen it (save for the link in the OP). But this has to be the same car dealer with the commercial jingle that I've heard some American friends (from S. California) sing on occasion. Does the announcer promise (threaten?) to eat live bugs?

I remember seeing his commercials on TV when I was a tyke (I can hear the 'jingle' in my head as I type). However, I'm from Canada (Victoria, BC). Did Cal have a dealership in Seattle?

aaaaaah. Cal!

"If you need a car or truck go see Cal." Or something like that. He sold used Dodges, has a dealership in Long Beach. He's old as death by now, if he's still around?, but yeah, he had a ton of TV and radio ads, and was totally badass. Dressed up like a cowboy, had a tiger, and kickin jingle.

the end went like.."go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal!"

oh man, and now I'm homesick.

Maybe his jingle changed over the years, or maybe it is only similar? Or maybe my Oldtimers is kicking in again.

Just listen to the jingle in the link the OP posted...it's the same melody.

You're welcome dogbert! I figured that there would be some people on this board who would enjoy their memories of Cal.

I spent my early childhood and all of my time in the US from high school on in Southern Cal. In fact, we came *this* close to buying a car from Cal just before I started high school.

Memories, indeed.
