I was there yesterday... they had just the regular ipods... like a good line up... minis, regular ones, and a larger size one for data and photos... but no Nano...

I think that the Nano is a bit to new to make its way into Costco... at least for now.

I saw them sitting around all over in Thailand. Same price. Find a friend who is going on a trip and spot 'em some cash.

I wouldn't get one now, and I am a fan of Apple. There are problems with the screen, and a class action lawsuit going on. I would hate to deal with a screen problem from Korea. Let them iron out the wrinkles first.

Besides, I think the size thing is an unnecessary gimmick. So it is tiny- the 20 and 40 gig ipods are small enough to be easy to handle, and large enough to not get lost so easily. I know the resolution is better, etc, but I am sure all of the new bells and whistles will be available on the big brothers.

Very true. Apple are banking on their minaturatisation (new word!!). I'm not impressed by something that is so small. I care more about functionality and performance. I won't be buying a Nano.

i have read about the class action lawsuit and the screens succeptability to scratching, but i don't care. costco has an awesome return policy and they will accept almost anything as a return as long as u have the receipt. even if the ipod breaks 3 years later after i have moved back to america they will still take it back.

yeah, i really would like to get the nano. the screen problem sucks but they sell the cases here in korea that can prevent scratches. it has been a hard choice trying to decide between the ipod (60gb) or the nano (4gb) - obviously the memory size of the ipod is a huge plus but the flash memory is preferable to a hard drive in that it won't skip if i jog with it.
any recommendations or opinions?

i checked at hyundai dept store about the nano and they said i would have to order it and wait a month to get it.

Well the screen thing is a mystery to me, I've had mine for like a month now, and it came with some special plastic cover which u overlay on the body itself. I've not had any problems, but the stickyness is wearing off so I'll get a proper case soon.

Just to be safe avoid putting keys and other sharp objects in the same pocket. Oh and choose the white one, as I understand it the scratches dont show as bad on that one.

Quite a blunder for apple tho

Now that I've lost yet another 128meg CF card to some kind of unknown electronic death (this is now 3 different brands in 3 years, and with different cameras), even flash memory is beginning to scare me. It would be nice if the flash memory on the nano was removable. I have an old .mp3 with removable memory, and I enjoy having that option.

If your memory or battery dies on your nano after a year of use, it's worthless (unless somebody finds a way around this issue, which I doubt).

Think about it. Would you pay Apple 28,000 won a month to 'lease' a Nano, then have to give it back after a year at that rate? How about 14,000 won per month over 2 years? Obviously, the longer it lasts, the better the rate. These things make me think there are too many non-fixable issues with the Nano, given the expense of it. I want something that will last a few years, and still give me the opportunity to sell it online for at least a few bucks when I'm ready to move on. I have known far too many people with I-pods who aren't able to do this easily. I think the Nano may be worse, especially given the battery.

We all know Apple's repair policy, which basically is: Buy a new one because the repair will cost as much as a new one.

Why bother with a toy like an Ipod or a Nano, when you can have a real computer with hard drive, CF slot, and SD slot that fits in your hand and even uses the Linux operating system:

http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/

It plays MP3's, Movies, Games (even an NES/SNES Emulator can be had to play all the NES/SNES ROMS), Ebooks, and has a complete Word processor and spreadsheet function. And with an Iriver cable, can be a host for full size keyboard, mouse and hard drives!

I haven't had my Ipod skip, but I don't run- I speed walk on the treadmill, and otherwise walk with it or play it in my car (I love the nifty little cassette-like thing you can buy for 7000 won that plugs into the cassette player (old car Embarassed ) and plays mp3's or Ipods).

I like my Ipod- the size is fine, and it holds what I want. But for some reason it has a bad relationship with my home computer, so I have to use it with my office computer. I tried to get the computer to work with it, but I have given up trying.

The nano implements flash RAM technology which means that it has no moving parts. It's impossible to make a flash drive skip unless you are having a power problem, in which case it would probably just crash.
