Hey all
I have a few questions about Beijing that I am hoping someone can assist with. I just found out that I can get 3 days off plus a w/e in November and thought it may be a great time to hit China.
The thing is I can't seem to find any tour pacakges for one person. They all need a minimum of 2 and since all my friends work in hagwons they are not available. I don't have much time to plan like 2 weeks to do visa/flight etc.. Any suggestions for ideas about companies etc that I may not know about.
I was thinking of just going and trying to figure it all out there but have heard that it is not a good idea in China whre there is little to no English. ANY experiences? My main foucs is Beijing alkthough I would like to see the Teracotta warriors if they are worth it. I would love to gather some suggestions as to what I should do? I have 5 nights there.
Any input would be much appreciated |

I did it on my own a couple of years ago, it was great. Most hotels will have a counter with an English speaker where you can book daytrips to things like the great wall etc. If you're wandering around on your own, keep a pen and paper handy, you'll find lots of uses for it.
Grab the lonely planet guide to the city, book a hotel at www.sinohotel.com, and you're good to go. |

The cheapest option is this:
Go to a travel agent.
Buy a return ticket on Air China (cheapest airline).
Pay 50,000 won for a Chinese visa (you will need a visa).
Fly to Beijing.
Take number 3 bus from the Airport to Beijing Station (40 mins).
Opposite Beijing station is the YHA hostel.
It is good. Clean. Cheap. Next to subway. A good place to start.
(I soviet_man have stayed there). |
