Once a week I have a free-talking class with my Korean co-teacher. Today's lesson was going to be about happiness, but she was into telling me why one of our boys is in the mental hospital, why one boy sleeps all day, which students are living with only a grandmother, which have been abandoned,...the kind of info that is useful to know about students. Then the conversation kind of wandered off into gossip about the teachers and administration. It turns out two of our co-teachers were my co-teachers teachers when she was in high school. One of them is a published writer. The other is arrogant and no one likes him. He is the one who had a shouting match with the vice principal and who now finds teachers meetings in other cities so he can be away from school as much as possible.
The funniest story I heard was about our principal. Three of our teachers have a vegetable garden out behind the dormitory. Every night, one male teacher has to sleep in the dorm and supervise the 10 boys who stay there during the week. One of the teachers woke up early one morning a few weeks ago and saw a short little man coming out of the garden, stooped over from the weight of the veggies he was heisting. The culprit was none other than the school principal.
Then my co-teacher said there was a second incident at my housewarming party week before last. One of the teachers was sent out to buy paper cups. He came back with a bag full of ice cream. As the bag was passed around, each teacher took one ice cream bar. Then the principal took two. His wife already had one, so he wasn't getting one for her. He told her to take it home with them. She was embarrassed and told him to put it back.
Anyone else know any cute little foibles about your co-workers? |

A guy on my team saw one of our co-workers at Gecko's with his young Korean girlfriend (this guy's around 47). It was awkward running into them because the dude w/the g/f had informed us earlier in the week that his WIFE back in Germany has stage 4 cancer. |

a guy in my office (alledgedly) took information from the personnel records of all of the staff and used them to apply for credit cards in all of their names. Apparently he had a buddy working for the credit card company who worked on comission.
When all the guys realised what had happened and confronted them he just told them to cancel the credit cards and not make such a big deal out of it.
Also there's this one guy who surfs internet message boards all day. |
