I'm finishing up my contract right now, 1 year down. As I'm having a good time on the ROK and have nothing better to do, I've decided to stay another year. The problem comes in that I can't find any actual schools hiring. I've looked at our job board and a few others, but with a couple of absurd exceptions (9am-7pm non-split shift!), all I see are recruiters. Let's face it, recruiters generally suck and aren't good to go with. Anyone know of anywhere else to look? Or, perchance, is anyone flying home and looking for an expereinced teacher to take their place???

I am glad that you wrote this post. I too am tired of seeing only recruiter ads. I prefer to deal directly with the school but there seems to be little direct hirings. I also would like to gripe about the salary wages. I started working in Korea over 5 years ago and the wages are no higher today; unfortunately, the cost of living has increased over 10 percent.

Now that I am over 30, I find it even more difficult to find a job, even though I have 5 years of teaching experience. Before I came over the first time, I had no experience but was offered contracts for every position that I applied for. Now, I will send out 10 resume's and get 4-5 job offers. Unfortunately, the offers are much worse than when I had no experience.

Well, sorry for griping so much. I guess a part of my problem is that I more picky now and only want a good position. If I humble my expectations, I may find the exact position that I want. With that said, I still think the market for jobs is dry and over run. Good luck to all. My advice is to re-sign with your current job. It is better to be with the devil you know.

Problem is you're looking at hackwon jobs.

Now tis the season for uni job postings, and in two months public/private school jobs.

Where you want to be anyway with a few years of Korea experience under your belt.

Have you looked at the Korean Job Board here?

In the last 4 weeks there have been around 15 university positings.
