Hi guys,
My contract ends in may and I'm heading home to recuperate and then I'm hitting Taiwan. I am in a nice position to do a summer camp before I start my job search in a "regular" position, and am considering the idea of doing it here and then hopping across the pond. Even if it just paid for my flights here (and later to Taiwan) and my living expenses I'd be happy.
So I have a few questions.
How long does a summer camp last normally?
What is the pay and benefits like?
How easy will it be for me to hook one of these gigs up early next year?
Oh and finally how much is a trip to taiwan in sept. time?
Ta everso!

The summer camp season lasts six weeks but its unlikely that you can work at one camp that long. The hours are longer, you have to babysit the kids after dinner but you get free lodging at the place you are teaching. the pay is slightly higher. Last summer I was promised W2 million for two weeks but they weren't honest and I got 1.5 million. This winter I am promised 3 million for one month. Good luck. You will have to do a visa run. I think the visa is called a C4. |

Loads of camps being advertised right now.. But do the math - because your're out of the country will the cost of your airfare be worth it? The visa situation is fairly 'up-in-the-air' some places can only employ teachers with an E2 some with an E2 or C4... which you will most likely have to sort out and pay or. Camps are hard work and from my experience only worth it if you have a current E2 with a realease letter or permission of leave. |
