What's up with Epik these days, I haven't heard too much about it. I'm thinking of coming back to Korea for round 2 this summer and wonder if I should apply to Epik. I don't really want to work at a hagwon so would be very open to a public school, or an English Village type job.
What are some of your recent experiences? |

I was in Korea when I was looking for work and was able to find several better offers, one of which I'm currently at. Most importantly, I was able to *visit* my school several times *before* I signed the contract. I think most people already in Korea could find a surer bet than taking their chances with EPIK. |

EPIK went through a bad patch the last few years, but seems to be leveling out these days.
Can't say the same for GEPIK. |

It varies province to province, so choose your desired location and then find out about it there.
I'm in Incheon and very happy. The school is good and the kids are fantastic. My schedule is lovely and although I did work in a camp and extra curricular (for the kids not me) it was never more than 2 hours work and I didnt have to stay in school after I'd finished. Plus I got an extra 500,000won for it.
I hear exceptional things about EPIK in Jeju and there you have the added bonus of being in one of the nicest places in Korea too.
I'd say enquire and if it sounds good go for it.
One last thing, I got NO support re: lesson structure/planning. Its not a problem now but at the start it was very daunting for this noobie. Again this varies greatly school to school.
Good Luck! |
