Belafonte Calls Bush 'Greatest Terrorist'
By IAN JAMES, Associated Press Writer
CARACAS, Venezuela - The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world" on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.
Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday. Some in the group attended Chavez's television and radio broadcast Sunday.
"No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people ... support your revolution," Belafonte told Chavez during the broadcast.
The 78-year-old Belafonte, famous for his calypso-inspired music, including the "Day-O" song, was a close collaborator of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and is now a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. He also has been outspoken in criticizing the U.S. embargo of Cuba.
Chavez said he believes deeply in the struggle for justice by blacks, both in the U.S. and Venezuela.

He also called Colin Powell an "Uncle Tom." Perhaps he should go back to "Day-O?" |

Well, it's nice to see that Chavez found a big name to support his tinpot causes. Perhaps Right Said Fred was busy that day.

Yes, Mr G, I agree: I always had a lot of time for Colin Powell, and was sad when he decided not to run for President. His autobiography is well worth a read (I must try and find an addendum to cover the last few years). |

I used to have more respect for Powell. Charming, well-spoken & seemingly a straight-shooter.
Heard recently that while serving in Vietnam his subsequent role in working to cover-up, spin, downplay the MAI LAI massacre won him a lot of brownie points in D.C.
Also said to be a student of Theodore ( the White Ghost ) Shackley's

Mr. Bush is a lot of things, but unless he's done something (like actually bomb Al Jazeera) to warrant it, he's not a terrorist. Much less is he the greatest terrorist in the world. And let's not forget, part of the reason Belafonte is a moron is because he's kissing up to Chavez in this way. |

Or illegally invade a few countries in the middle east, murdering and maiming a couple hundred thousand ( perhaps ultimately millions of people ), so that they can be freed from their bonds of oppression and in turn be given an AmeriKan Florida-styled "democracy".
Thanks for clearing that up. |

Where are you getting your numbers? Its almost like you don't think doubt should be cast your way? A couple hundred thousand? Even Michael Moore would be ashamed of your hyperbole.
You know, America is spelled with a c. |

You seem reluctant to acknowledge Bush's "liberation" of the middle east region is far from over |

Right. Call me conservative, but I'm not going to count deaths that haven't happened yet. |
