Hi Guys,

I am looking to come and work in Korea around September time and have come across People Recruit who seem like quite a professional outfit. Does anyone have any experience of them?

Also, if I want to be in Korea by September when would you guys suggest I apply? Would a month in advance be enough?

Thanks

P.S I did a search, but couldn't find anything about them on Dave's

I looked into People Recruit as well, unfortunately they replied saying they basically only place Americans... the said theyd contact me if anything came up that was available, but I never did hear from them again.

I ended up using GSMC which were pretty good. They werent trying to get me to have interviews every day, or to hurry up and make a decision about jobs they had sent me. Basically there was no pressure like with other agencies.

Thanks for replying Kimbelina. Looks like it's a non starter then as I am British too.

Can't believe you are in Pohang, I was there two years ago.

Great Place!!

It seems to me that it takes about 6 weeks to get the visa after you get a job. If that is true, then for a Sept. 1 start date, you'd need to sign a contract by mid-July.

You could start browsing jobs around late June/July, many advertise for up to 2 or 3 months in advance. If you see something you like, you could check for the agency on the black lists, or ask on Daves again.

PS: Yep so far Pohang is great! (Im still a newbie though)

People Recruit are great! They are 4 girls who found me (a Canadian) a good job. They are in Pusan and when you go to Pusan they are happy to show you around. I considerthem friends of mine as I have kept in touch with them over the last 7 months I've been here. They really are well intentioned nice girls who actually have a vested interest in the people they place. There are no complaints from me or the other 8 teachers they have placed at my school. Great girls! That bit about them saying they only scout Americans is bull as the teachers at my school that they placed (8 in all including 3 more coming to replace 3 of these 8 whose contracts are expiring) are Canadian, Welsh, Irish, and British, not a single American. Perhaps there is something about you that they feel uneasy about placing?????? whatever, they are stand up!

Unfortunately, I have nothing but bad things to say about People Recruit.
My friend and I looked for a job together living in the same apartment. What we greceived was 2 different schools, and 2 different apartments. They blamed this on their recruiting partner in Seoul.

We had problems with our school. So they called. The problems were made worse.. and have continued..

Rolling Eyes Definately have a chip on my shoulder bc of them.

end.

They lied about only scouting Americans. Wow, they sound great!

Hi Guys

I just e-mailed People Recruit out of curiosity and they said "...we DO recruit teachers from the UK as well. We recruit any teachers as long as they match 2 conditions which Korean government designated"

So who knows, guess it is just the luck of the draw.

I can only say bad things about People Recruit. Sure they are nice, but if you have too many problems at your job that they found for you and want to leave, then they will call you up and threaten you. "Oh you want to leave this job? If you do that, we will see to it that you never work in Korea again!"
