Alright,

Help me out here, people. So, once you have an e2 visa, its illegal to do other work. Yet, there are tons of ads (if you look around) for "part time work." As far as I can gather, the majority of people here hold E2s. So, are all these jobs going to the minority that hold the types of visas that allow part time work? Or are LOTS of people working on the sly? ALSO, if someone DID want to work on the sly (not saying that I ever would), how do you know if the person who you're supposed to send your info to isn't an immigration officer?

Someone straighten me out!!!

It is legal to do parttime work with an E2 if you do the proper paperwork.

You don't. You also don't know if the person on the subway begging you to teach little Men-Suck is a legitimate private or just a shill for the Immi people. Teaching outside your E-2 visa is illegal. Do it at your own risk. If you do, don't come on here whining that you got caught and deported and it's SO unfair. It is the law, right or wrong.
