Hey all,

My computer has crashed, not sure due to what exactly, but I am assuming a virus. I tried booting it from disk, and not luck.

I guess I have to call a pro. Any suggestions? I heard Johnny Comp in ITaewon is a rip off. Anyone on here think they can do it for some courtesy drinks and grub?

Another question,

I had a partitioned hard drive for thus occassions. IS my second drive protected, or will it be fucked as well?

Unless the hard drive itself failed, your other partition should be fine.

If you post more info about computer, what anti virus program you were using, and what exactly happens when you try to turn it on, the posters here should be able to at least pinpoint the problem

well first, it starts up, and asks me what mode i want to run in. I started it once, in the last known good configuration. Wont start in Safe mode, my windows disk is not recognized.

I really just want to get a clean install done. My pirated windows disk is far outdated, but have feelign geting a legit one wont help anyways. I really just want to get a clean insall and wipe done....

I was quoted 75k for the clean install, and a clean out of my laptop was recommended for another 20k

not really sure what the going rate for such service is... any ideas

Back in my prime, I used to do it all myself, just too busy, and out of the techonolgical loop in my post uni days.

If all you want to do is reinstall it, and you don't care about losing what you have right now, use that windows disk and reinstall, formatting the hard drive during the process. It'll take a couple of hours, but it's pretty painless otherwise. And in that process, it'll clean up your computer totally.
If you want to save some of what you have, that's more difficult, because everything you save could be part of the problem. But honestly, paying 75k for a clean install is only worth it if you're completely techno-illiterate or if the problems your computer has are hardware related as well; and even then 75k seems too much.
PM me if you want, and I'll help.
