My mom mentioned to me that when her friend was in Seoul for a week last year she bought a really nice set of Korean pajamas for herself. I'm thinking that this would be a good christmas present for my mom but I have no idea where to look or even what exactly to look for. Is this more of a traditional style thing? One co-worker told me to go to Namdaemun and one told me to go to a department store.

Any advice?

Go to Pyeontak! There are about 6 silk shops by the base and I got my sister and mom nice pajamas and robes there on the cheap. Good quality and they loved them. You might be able to find stuff like this in Itaewon too. The little places gave me good discounts for buying more then one.

Pyeontaek yes it is on line 1 going towards Chenon. The place to look is Songtan in that area near the Osan Airbase. It is part on Pyeontaek. I bought some housecoats in Itaewon for my sisters and my mother and a few others in the past, and they aren't too expensive. They are more Chinese style than Korean style though. Look around in Itaewon and I am sure you can get a good deal. If you are closer to Itaewon, go there as the cheaper price in Songtan probably isn't worth the extra travel. I am in Suwon, went drinking there last week and noticed lots of good shops. I plan on going for a look at the shops there sometime before i go home. Although I am sure most things are a little cheaper.

I got a pair custom-made at a shop in Itaewon. Somewhat near McDonald's, you go down a corridor where there are usually somewhat strange t-shirts (Asian Foreign Girls' High School Basketball Tournament, stuff like that...) The shop is on the left. The lady there gave me somewhat of a hard time, but in the end, everything came out great! The next time her name card comes to the top of the pile, I'll post her info. here.
