| 50k in a white envelope. It's korea, he's korean. Chances are the wife is setting up house wiht one of the bridal packages and he has a deposit to put down. |

| CLG is right. In Korea the expected gift is money, delivered at the reception table at the wedding. For an average friend, W30,000. For a close friend, W50,000. Do not expect a thank you note. It won't happen. You will sign a book. Turn it sideways. |

| The previous posts are spot on - if you want you could add a nice picture frame, a bottle of plonk and two nice glasses or some other small gift as a keepsake but money's what they'll be expecting. |

When I got married, guess how many gifts I got?
Big fat zero.
It was nice opening all those little bundles of money.
Usually the bride's mother get's the money.
So if you want them to get the money...give it to them at school, not at the wedding. |

sounds like 50,000 WON will be it. that's easy.
what's the bit about:

| The money goes towards the people who paid for the wedding. |

| the money goes to the people who paid for the wedding and it might also be used to setup the couple's house with furnishings or whatnot. |

if you don't give money, you won't get a ticket for the buffet.
CLG was spot on with the amount IMO (has to be fresh 10,000 bills and 40,000 is bad luck)- envelopes will be provided at the door. |
