I don't know how many of you have seen or heard about this yet but there is a great pie shop in Apkujeoung. It's right across the street from the California fitness. It opened up about 3 or 4 weeks ago and since I have been going there about twice a week for lunch. The pies will cost you less then 5,000 and the choices are great" sheperds pie, chicken cabanora, beef satay, steak and mushrooms, and the list goes on. The coffee they serve is also top notch. They have the beans auctually roasted in Seoul so they are super fresh. The owner/manager/not sure what he really is, from Australia and is great. The other workers there are also nice and helpful in making your pie choices. Alright gotta go finish the second of the two pies I purchased today.
Give the place a try you won't regret it.

If its an Australia meat-pie shop - I am sure the pies are fantastic!
Being Australian myself - and having stayed in korean for six years without leaving... it is the one and only food I have missed... and I would travel and pay anything for great chicken/potato shepherd pies....
HOWEVER - for someone who doesn't know Apkujeoung so well... can you please give more directions on which way to walk etc - if I were coming from the subway station....?
(actually - there was a thread on here before about Russian restuarants - selling carrot salad, lamb pies, yoghurt and "cottage cheese" - so i followed all the directions that led me to some small shops in Dongdaemun - just to discover that the "yoghurt" tased foul, the cottage cheese wasn't the "cottage cheese" that us foreigners know - but actually tasted the same as the yoghurt but with more lemon juice added... and after one bite of the "lamb pies" I threw it all out....."...
so please don't let me down here... I hope these pies are worth the travelling to and from... |

Thanks for the tip. Only yesterday I was thinking I'd kill for a decent pie, chicken and mushroom or steak and kidney. And Australian pies definitely are the best! |

Bollocks! While Aussie do a lot of things better than Kiwi's, making pies is not one of them. In my two years in Sydney I never found a decent pie, kebabs yes, pies definitely not! |

actually the KIWI pie is the best! mate there is a huge debate on this subject downunder, but me coming from both countries. 10years each..
I will say the kiwi pie is better..
I cant remember off hand.. but I think the Aussie pies and kiwi pies contain less than 25% meat in the pie..
but from experience I think the kiwi pie was top notch me.. but hey..
IVE HAD SOME KILLER AUSSIE PIES TOO!! |

You tease with forbidden meat pies... you horrible people in Seoul. For those of us in the hinterlands... we must make do. To spite you tommorow I shall create the most tasty Sheppards Pie that was ever made in my own kitchen.
You big city bastards and your meat pies.

Awesome. I normally don't eat pies all that often back home but they're the one thing I find myself missing and craving the most while here! I'd love a decent meat pie right now. I'll have to head up there sometime soon and get myself one (or two, or three, ..). |

Directions:
If you're heading from Apgujeong stn, it's a looooong walk. Get yourself to Galleria Dept Store, and from Galleria Dept Store intersection, head south down the main road (with lots of construction). IE/ Galleria is in two seperate buildings, stand with your back to the main entrance of either one, and walk away from them. Bondi's is down about 2 blocks, and will be on your right hand side.
It's been about 3 weeks since I've been up there, last time I was there Bondi's wasn't open yet, so I might be a little off in regard to what stores are just before it, or just after it, but a few larger landmarks in the area are -- California Fitness (across the street), Burger King, and Make Up Forever (opposite side of street).
I didn't want to get excited, because I've never heard of Bondi's before, and I thought there was a chance that it could be dessert pies...figured I'd be crushed if I went in for cheese and onion, and was met with nothing but apple and lemon meringue..... |
