Before I do a search of the forums, I just wanted to post this and see if anyone has any recent info about this group.
They seem to have many campuses located in Seoul teaching elementary/kindy.
Thanks

I don't know much about them, but i do know that my students that have lived overseas all attend Poly School for some reason. |

I have known a few people that worked for different Poly branches. One of them survived a year and wished he had never worked there. The other left after 4 months, I think.
Poly puts on a big show about having top students, and being oh-such a professional place to work and offering a little bit more money than the rest out there. The truth is that you will work much harder for that little bit of extra dough than you will ever imagine. And you don't get to sit down during class. I heard that from both teachers. In the end, from what I've heard, it is far from worth it. And both of the teachers there went into it suckered into the slightly higher pay, only to find they deeply, deeply regretted working there later. With all of the other opportunities to make money out there, my friends were kicking themselves for not finding a job with fewer hours and more ability to get involved in other ventures. |

I agree with the comments by BigBlackEquus and would add the following:
Poly does put on a big show about being a step above other hagwons, but in many ways they're much worse.
Poly makes their own materials, some are decent, some are absolute garbage. They claim to want "professional" teachers, but give the teachers no freedom in the classroom, nor any respect. Staff meetings consist of unqualified/inexperienced head teachers/directors talking down to experienced teachers as if they are infants.
Every six months, Poly "school" puts on workshops for the teachers. These are on Saturday, last the whole day, are a complete waste of time, and are of course unpaid.
Poly school panders to parents, knows nothing about education, cares nothing about education, and has no integrity.
Their job ad claims that teachers can develop their abilities as professionals, but this is a complete joke. Teaching ideas or methods are never discussed, activities or materials that could actually help the students learn are discouraged, directives from unqualified/inexperienced head teachers/directors merely show how unqualified and inexperienced they are.
If you don't care about education, then it might be a decent place to work. |
