I'm about two weeks from heading out to South Korea to teach English and would like to obtain a book or two ahead of time that can help me with the process of lesson planning. The age group is middle-high school, specifically ages 12-17. Please let me know what you consider to be the ultimate lesson planning book.

Something tells me that you are not talking about those red books the teachers are given at the start of every school year. They have pages divided into squares for lesson plans.

I'm guessing you mean books that will give you some ideas on making good lessons. Is that right?

I like "Language Teaching Games & Contests" by WR Lee (Oxford). It has tons of useful games to incorporate into lessons. If you don't want to drag around a box full of books, you can easily google ESL games on the internet.

Its taken a load of its materials from the minefields book which is used by JET teachers and I've found it quite useful.

If you want a few suggestions let me know I'll happily send across some successful lessons to get you started. Smile

Ultimately its only gonna be a major issue if you are teaching in a school. If your in a Hagwon then most of your time will be spent with the text book, or so I understand.
