|
|
The time has come to put an application in to the Nepalese Govt. for permission to climb. Myself and 3 others are seriously considering a route up Changabang. Two more climbers are needed, so the offer is here too aswell as being on a few climbing forums. Proposed date is April 2004 - expect it to take 4 weeks.

Had a few replies from other forums, main point being 'high altitude' climbing. Maybe I should have stressed - Experienced high altitude climbers. |

I climb small boulders up the mountain creek most days of the week here. The picture was just to show how high I can climb. It was the all I could find on bolder / boulder climbing. |

Boulders are tricky - I broke my ankle falling off one 3 yrs ago. Mountains are a different kettle of fish though. Wanna come along? |

Like to but I haven't got the experiance needed for it. I'm looking at getting a little boat soon and going native. I figure I can make it on the coast somewhere. Stocking up on fishing gear at present. Tasmania Photos.

Squaffy, Anda do you know if their is any kind of indoor/sports climbing scene in Seoul or anywhere else in Korea? Heading over in late July and would love to get started right away. I totally respect mountaineering, but I'm more a bouldering kind of guy. 5.12c/d |

There's a few places - look here for a selection:
http://www.indoorclimbing.com/southkorea.html
I've been to the one in Incheon - though it was very busy. Had to wait for over an hour to get on the walls.
Bouldering is fun and a lot less expensive than the big climbs. Between us (the 6 going for it) we have over 2 Km of rope to fix the route. I'll post the route here soon if I can - just ironing out a few rather tricky bits and who's going to lead which pitch. Looking like 4 camps to make it. |

They're missing the small but fierce Kwangju Glimbing Gym. |

Not really. it's little more than a one-story room full of holds, but it was all KJ had when I was there a year and a half ago.
The guys who go there, however, are hardcore. Great climbers and great guys - the place runs on a shoestring and for 30,000 you get a key to the place and a locker. No one speaks English and no one wants to, which is nice. Every year for the last 15 or so, they've organized a KJ climbing competition.
It's nestled among some factories on the highway heading out to Chumdan Chigu. Try calling (62) 514-5325. |
