I just checked my 2006 calendar and noticed that Chusok this year is Wed, Thur, Fri October 5-7 and in case you forgot October 3 is also a holiday and falls on a Monday.

I wonder how many people will still have to teach classes on Tuesday that week. Since I'm at a university I'm guessing classes won't be cancelled and I'll have to show up - but I can't imagine there'll be many students.

Confused My 2006 diary (thanks CUP Smile ) says the Oct 3rd holiday is a Tuesday, and Chuseok break is Thurs 5th-Sat 7th Oct... Confused

It also says that in 2007, Chuseok is Monday 24th-Wed 26th September.

Hey Ody, if you are still in Korea in 2007, I'd recommend getting Fridays off - will get you 2 longer long weekends, and a few public holidays fall on a Monday anyway. Wink

I'll be saving up my vacation days and taking Monday and Wednesday off for the full 9-day effect.

Big business also wanted them to ditch Children's Day. Babies can't work 10 hour days, you know. They're a bit of a bother I guess for the Chaebol. The Korean government didn't cave. For a nation trying to encourage bigger families, it would seem a backward move. "Children? Nothing to celebrate. Move along. Move along."

What's kind of funny is my last day will be Oct 14, 2006. I'm going to have a nice little holiday the week before. Suckers.
