Once every two years, the Pyongyang Film Festival allows a select few to watch movies from distant lands like Egypt, Iran and Algeria. Last year audiences saw a dubbed and censored version of "Bend It Like Beckham," the British hit about a soccer-playing schoolgirl.
Cinemas, however, show only strongly patriotic North Korean offerings, advertised with vividly colored posters.
