Good news.

What is it about the Turks? They niggle and niggle and seem to love a bit of bother.

The Turks most definitly are a friendly bunch, but don't worry, the lunatic fringe can still go to germany, even if the team can't!

On other qualification:

A quote from BBC website:

Quote:
No one deserves it more than Australia

Can someone explain to me why this is?

Actually we need some whipping boys. On that note, introducing Trindad and Tobago:

Quote:
Wrexham's giant defender Dennis Lawrence scored the goal, outjumping the Bahrain defence to powerfully head in a Dwight Yorke corner on 49 minutes.

On second thoughts, as well as whipping boys, every world cup also has a fairytale story...could be T&T......I mean getting out of the group stage would be a big enough suprise to be called a fairytale.

Maybe they're saying that about Australia because they always have to play 8,000 games against a bunch of island teams before they can qualify.

Apparently the Turkish fans rioted after the game was over.

I am sorry the Turks didn't make it. The Swiss are brutal. Any game with the Swiss in it is guaranteed boredom.

They are Belgium in disguise.

am i right in thinking that this is the first world cup in ages where there is a representative from every continent?
statto, get on the case....

it all went off after the turkey game apparently, both sides having a go, and the swiss were pelted with stuff as they left the field. oh and a bit of casual racism thrown in too from those loveable turks.

next year's tournament is going to be brilliant... and don't know if you heard, but not only are england certain to get korea in the group stages, but our wayne will get player of the championship, micky owen will get the golden boot, while (sir) david will be picking up the cup at the end...

you knows it

Last time was 1982 when New Zealand appeared in the World Cup.

get on the case Sepp!

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=349341&cc=5739

my favourite bit is at the end where it descibes how one of the swiss players was hospitalised after being kicked in the groin... taking one for the team!
