Ok I have a quick question and I'm getting conflicting reports. I'm here in Korea with my husband and got here on a F-3 visa. Now that I'm here I've found a great job as a teacher, but she's telling me I don't need to do the infamous "japan run". I've only been here for 3 weeks and have yet to register. She's been talking with someone from the immigration office and they're telling her all I have to do is register and get my ARC and then it'll take a couple of days b/c I'm registered to get the rest of the paperwork done for me to work.
Does all this sound right to you guys???
I'm leaving to go back to the States on December 22. I just want to make sure all this stuff is done before I go, and i don't have any hassles

You may be able to get a "Change of Status of Sojourn" through Immigration. Small fee (20,000 I think)... the expiration date won't change though.
That's if you can. I'm not sure exactly what an F-3 is. Maybe there has been changes to it recently along with the F-2 changes. You may also be able to get an E-2 attached to it. You'll have to inquire Immigration...
The easiest thing to do may be to get the E-2 while you're in the US.
Whatever you do, don't trust anyone to answer this question but an Immigration officer. Hogwan owners and recruiters will lie. |
