Phone numbers in Korea frequently use the ) as an area code separator. For example 02)455-2346. Coming from a math/programming background, seeing any bracket without a matching open/close bracket just bothers the hell out of me. I can hardly stand to look at phone numbers here. I tell you.

Keeps me awake at night too.

Although, why is it if you dial the area code and number and you are in the area of that particular area code you are told that the number is not available?

That's your girlfriend in the picture, right? Seems you should have better things to do than worry about an unclosed bracket.

I hate the way a company will write 02)555-1234~6 with the little squiggly between the 6. I've been told it means you can dial 1234, 1235, or 1236 but I've never seen it anywhere else in the world. When I first came here, of course I was dialing 02-555-12346 and wondering why I couldn't get through....

Had a kid in class the other day who was amazed that we had a telephone in the house back in australia when i was growing up. Not because of my age (old man of 27) but because...well.... it was in australia... Wow! to think that kind of technology was in countries other than korea way back in the 1970's 80's.

They all know Alexander Bell but seem to think that's just his English name. He's really korean...

Unlike the unclosed bracket, I'll agree that this is a serious problem.

Ah. My boss wrote 9 that way. I thought it was just bad hand writing.
