My school had some work done over the summer so the vacation was a little longer. The first half of semester they just ran to the schedule but we missed a part of the cirrculum. For the next half I've been pushing my kids through the cirrculum in order to get them ready for tests on December 2nd.

Well today my minder announces that the tests have moved to December 12th. I'm more than a little miffed as now all my planning has gone out the window and I've been hurry through stuff for no reason and now have to pull lessons out of thin air in order to give something for the kids to do as we won't be covering the final part of the cirrculum despite now having all this extra time.

I just don't get why this decision was made 10 FRIGGIN DAYS before tests.

Don't worry, could be worse, it could have been 1 week BEFORE Dec 2, as what tends to happen in China Rolling Eyes

I hear ya. It's always a drag to be the last person to know anything. I'd recommend using the extra week as a review session to give areas that you skimmed over a bit of extra coverage. It might do some good to hit on ideas once more right before the test.

Cheers

The thing that bothers me is that I had factored in a review into my planning. And some really good 'time wasters' for after tests. I think I might just do the time wasters after tests.

Perhaps you would benefit from the wise words of advice my last boss gave when he pulled this kind of schedule change..."No problem. Just talk to the students."

OOO, can I join in? My rant is let's not tell the foreign teacher that the classes are 40 minutes today instead of the normal 50 minutes.
Only found this out from the Korean teacher who I teach with first period. This is like the third time this has happened and it makes me so mad!!! Evil or Very Mad

bah I just go with the flow. I know it sucks to have a crappy boss but after having a crappy one on two continents I just end up pretending to be stupid and ignorant of everything. Play the game, smile and nod then go home with your paycheck.

Normally I would, but my patience is very thin this week.
