I'm a Canadian who has just been offered an ESL teaching contract at a hogwan in Ulsan. So far what I've seen and read about the place sounds alright, but I'd like to learn more about what it's like to live and teach there from someone firsthand. What is the "ESL district" like (I've been told this is where the school is)? Does the fact of Ulsan being an industrial city have any bearing on the schools or the students? How accessible is say, Busan from Ulsan?
If you've got experience teaching in this city, please post or pm me. Thanks! |

| Hey, I'm in Ulsan and I'm in what you are probably referring to as the ESL district (Ok-Dong?). It's awesome - everyone here is rich and they are willing to pay big $$ to learn English. PM me if you have any questions or need any help. |

Thanks, RachaelRoo. I PM'd you.
I also searched for more "Ulsan" threads too, but figured it might also make sense to start a fresh one.

So, does that mean living expenses are higher in Ulsan, too? |

| Living in ULsan is cheaper than in seoul. Though if you want exciting night life, Don't come here. This city is pretty lame for its size. |

But isn't Seoul like, the 5th most expensive city in the world to live in? Good to know about the night life stuff, but I'm not really a big party gal anyway.
Hmm. Maybe I should have posted this in the travel forum (since most of this is becoming about living in Ulsan). Sorry Mods! |
