I don't get people who come here expecting their relationship back home to survive.

If you want to get with a Korean girl, my advice is to gain her trust and let her know you're not just going to leave in a year. If this doesn't describe you, then start hanging around girls who drink heavily.

Koreans go about dating differently here, in that they're far more likely to date friends and far less likely to use the "You're too good of a friend for me to date" excuse.

Not all Korean girls want to live in the U.S. i know some who've travelled abroad but want to stay in Korea because of their families.
All we want is a nice guy who will look after us:)

Korean women often want to stay here with family. I gather that one just from reading about comments from guys married to Korean women who post on this board. Some of them try to get their wife to go back home with them, but are finding it hard.

As for dating Korean girls, remember that they are indeed very different animals. The Korean girls I know want a guy to call them daily. If you don't call them every day, they think you are either not that interested or dedicated, or could just be a player looking for action. I've also read on here from the girls that Korean men chase to the point of what we would call 'stalking' in our home countries. So I guess they are sort of trained culturally to expect a guy to try very hard for them.

The number of times I hear this question. . .

It's not hard and it's pretty well like back home. If you want a one-night stand go to any of the nightlife areas and you'll get it. If you want a nice girl go to a church. If you want somebody interested in arty stuff go to a museum. If you want somebody interested in exercise go to a gym.

I'm talking about if a Korean woman wants you. Then you need to pursue her. Women like being pursued by guys they like, and how are you going to know if she likes you unless you try?

And you're a gyopo, right? Different thinking. Different background. Am I not right in saying that you are quite different than a Korean woman born and bred here?

Your business is your own, but in the interest of the other person, have you ever tried not bringing their hopes up, and not wasting their time by simply saying, 'no, thank-you.'

BigBlackEquus,

I'm a bit concerned about your assertion that "As for dating Korean girls, remember that they are indeed very different animals. The Korean girls I know want a guy to call them daily. If you don't call them every day, they think you are either not that interested or dedicated".

I met a girl who I'm really, really into on Saturday night and I think she likes me. I got her number and she gave me a big hug when we parted - which I found odd, frankly, but nice. However, I was under the impression that it's best to take things slowly at first. I was planning to call her later in the week - Friday minimum - and I'd be jolly annoyed if I'm obliged to call straight away and regularly just to keep seeming interested. I don't want to hound her. Would you call today if you were in my shoes?

OP,

it's highly unlikely you'll find many K-girls who are Soju hounds.

A quick text message would be appropriate.

Smashing idea, Vanislander.

I think "it was so nice meeting you. Thanks for complimenting me on my Korean" (even though my Korean's sh1te) ought to be fine.

Her English is outstanding, so that's no probs.
