Hi all,

I have already booked flights to China for Lunar New Year and have just become aware of this '6 months remaining on ARC' issue, which I don't have.

I'm trying to find a solution and the only one so far seems to be that Xanadu travel have a way round it for an additional 20,000. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success with this or can shed some light, because I don't want to end up having my ARC swiped in Shanghai, or worse.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

can almost guarentee that the "way around it" is sending your ARC to the Busan consulate instead. The Busan Consulate is much more lenient with the 6 month thing, and that's what they did for me at the agency I went through (can't recall the name at the moment).

It's likely legit, and if you find out that is what Xanadu is doing, then it will probably work.

Yeah that's what they've done. For future reference, it's going to be cheaper for people to just send your documents down yourself, although I hear the embassies aren't accepting direct visa requests anymore.

Busan was the route I had to take. That new rule popped up one day and was not advertised on any Chinese embassy website. It seems so sketchy. My girlfriend and I didn't have 6 months left on our ARC and we went to Xanadu in Itaewon. But, since that rule had just started it was in effect for Seoul but not for Busan. We sent our ARC's down there and then visited that weekend with some friends to go to the beach and just picked up our cards at their office. This was back in early August, so I'm not sure what has/hasn't changed since then.
