I know that some people choose to "opt out" of the National Medical Insurance plan and instead go for a "global" coverage, which can have higher quality coverage.

Anyone have experience reaping the rewards of such insurance? Private hospital rooms? Private nurses? Is it worth it? I had my appendix out in a Korean hospital and it was okay, but I'd have paid for better quality nurses.

I'm starting a new job, and might be able to get the boss to cover the premiums, but either way, it might just be the way to go? We're probably having a kid in the next couple of years, and want good quality care.
