The Failure thing happened as a result of an intentional campaign by certain bloggers. I can't remember what this tactic is called, I think it's Google bombing or something, where they link the site so often that it gets picked up first by Google's search.
On another message board I read, some of the more paranoid, everyone's-out-to-get-us right wingers thought it was simply more evidence that Google hates Bush.
